The People’s Republican: Chris McDaniel


We hear it in every election. We say we are tired of the corruption in Washington, disgusted with the sleazy politics, weary of the untrustworthy politicians, revolted by the slick lobbyists, sickened by the dishonest backroom deals, horrified by all that is the DC cesspool.
We say we want someone who will “drain the swamp,” who is not beholden to the “special interests” and who will speak for “the people.”
Mississippi now has a chance to send someone exactly like that to the United States Senate in Washington, someone free and clear of The Swamp’s entanglements.
In his bid for the US Senate in 2018, Chris McDaniel has received no backing from outside groups spending millions of dollars on his behalf, nor has any major state politico or member of Congress tendered an endorsement. The Senate Republican Leader, Mitch McConnell, is not helping but is actively working to defeat him. He has no support from the party, the RNC, or the national chair. And the President of the United States, as a favor to McConnell, has endorsed his opponent.
Although the endorsement of Cindy Hyde-Smith by President Trump was viewed with a shrug by many McDaniel supporters throughout the state, and drew the ire of a few conservative journalists on social media, it is no setback for the candidate himself. In fact, if you ask me, I’m happy about ALL of these developments.
Why? Because there’s one thing I know: US Senator Chris McDaniel will owe them nothing! He will only owe the people of the state of Mississippi who hired him as their man in the US Senate. And this is how the system was supposed to work in the first place, before US elections were awash in cash.
